The Longview campus’ 6th & 7th grade students participated in “Reality Fair 101: Financial Literacy Day” last week. East Texas Professional Credit Union came to the school and set up educational booths about everyday life expenses. It gave the students a small preview of what to expect as adults, and what their parents go through every month. They were assigned a “career” with a projected annual salary, and had to create a budget for: insurance, transportation, housing, etc. The Reality Fair really was an eye opener for them – some went over budget while others stayed under.
