School Design

The Innovation Academy is a growing university charter school approved by the State Board of Education with campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine. The campuses will serve grades 3-10 for the 2016-2017 school year. Additional grade levels will be added each ensuing year. The Academy promotes numerous best and promising educational practices. The schools are based on the highly successful T-STEM Academy Blueprint and are centered around project-based learning. Teachers in the Academy meet daily to develop projects, and participate in job-embedded professional development.

Classroom Teacher

The classroom teacher will provide instruction to students both face-to-face through project-based learning and online. The teacher will be supported by a Campus Director, Innovation Academy Central Office Administrators, Ingenuity Center Professional Development Specialists, and university faculty. The classroom teacher will be expected to participate in daily teaming and project development with all teachers at the campus as well as teachers at other campuses using distance technologies. The classroom teacher will be responsible for curriculum development, lesson planning, communication and outreach, classroom management, integrating multiple technologies, collaborating with colleagues, and integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. Teachers will be expected to participate in graduate level work, and those teachers not currently holding master’s degree will be expected to be enrolled in a program as part of the compensation package. The position will be a 10 month university appointment, predicated on performance, enrollment, and continued successful operations of the charter school.

Teacher Residents (TRes)

Teacher Residents are students currently enrolled in an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) who are eligible to work under an Intern or Probationary Certification in the state of Texas.  The candidate will provide instruction to students both face-to-face through project-based learning and online. Part-Time Bus Drivers

Currently accepting applications for Part-Time Bus Drivers at our campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.  Must have valid Texas CDL with both P and S endorsements.  Must pass Motor Vehicle Report screening and complete an online driver’s training course through the university to be eligible for this position.

Primary Purpose:

  • Transport students for dual credit courses, field trips and other school related activities.

Terms of Employment:

  • $12.50/hr
  • As needed basis, up to 19.5 hours per week.
  • Valid Texas CDL with P and S endorsements
  • Pass Motor Vehicle Record screening
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Complete online driver’s training course per university policy

Substitute Teachers

Primary Purpose:

  • To engage students through the teaching of the assigned subject area.

Terms of Employment:

  • Up to 7 hours a day/19.5 hours per week as needed.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • A substitute shall be subject to all duties of a regular classroom teacher.
  • A substitute shall be able to work with other members of the staff in a professional manner.
  • A substitute should be able to assist students with the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.

Part-Time After-School Instructors/Interns

We are currently looking for part-time After-School Instructors.  This is a STEM (Science – Technology – Engineering – Math) based after-school program.
  • Providing a comfortable and supportive learning environment for students
  • Develop level-appropriate instruction for classes
  • Maintaining daily attendance
  • Provide educational tutoring to participants related to their educational goals, challenges and progress.

Hours as assigned:
Monday – Friday
1:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
$10.00/hr

  • Demonstrated ability to engage, and motivate youth especially with out-of-school youth.
  • Experience with developing innovative lessons.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse young people and staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development.
